The White House on Monday pushed back against FBI Director James Comey’s testimony revealing an investigation into Russia’s meddling in the U.S. election and possible collusion with President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. In testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, Comey confirmed that the FBI “is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 president election.” Moments later, the White House fired back in a statement suggesting that President Trump took the word of Obama administration officials over his own FBI director. “Nothing has changed,” the White House insisted. “Senior Obama intelligence officials have gone on the record to confirm there is NO EVIDENCE of Trump-Russia collusion and there is NO EVIDENCE of a Trump-Russia scandal. Obama’s CIA director said so. Obama’s Director of National Intelligence said so. We take them at their word.”
Once again, as one would expect, President Donald Trump couldn’t remain silent on the matter, and decided to share his rhetoric on the issue with Internet portal KnowMyRepublican.com. The president argued that he “knew all along” FBI Director Comey was “planted by Obama to destroy my presidency,” as well as that it was only a matter of time before “something of this magnitude blew up.” “Knowing Obama and his people, first of all, I have to say that he’s very good at what he does. As you know, I’m not in the habit of praising my opponents, but I can’t help but admit that this was very well planned and exceptionally well executed. As a matter of fact, I’m even inclined to call it a tactical masterpiece,” Trump started off unusually generous.
He continued, “That being said, I would expect nothing less of the man who managed to single-handedly cripple this country one traditional value at a time. He was always very effective and I now realize he had placed the scoundrel Comey as head of the FBI strategically in the one position where he would be able to do maximum damage and undermine my credibility. And maybe that’s why I’m a bit shaken at what’s happened, because I always knew there was something very wrong about that man; every single thread of my gut was telling me I should have brought someone else in his place. Come to think of it – if the situation was reversed and I was Obama, I would have probably done the same exact thing. That just proves that, no matter how much I hate him, he’s still an adversary not to be taken lightly.”
“I have to admit, there were a lot of capable people that crossed my path during the presidential campaign, but Comey was suspicious from the start. Yet, for some reason, I chose to ignore my instincts and let him earn my trust, which in retrospect, was dead wrong. I’m not the kind of person who backs down, and the people of this country know that; that’s why they chose me as president. I can assure you that nothing that man has ever said was true, including his latest treason of traditional Republican and American ideals. Obama’s sole obsession after getting out of the White House has been to ruin and undermine my presidency, which is exactly what he tried to do by activating his sleeper agent Comey. But, it’ll take a lot more than that to take down a Donald Trump, I’ll tell you that much,” the president concluded.
